Could you please interrupt your current multiple orgasms over Mitt Romney’s “strong anti-Trump stance” to remember that he made his fortune by seizing control of distressed corporations at a discount price, forcing those companies to vastly over-leverage themselves, taking back capital and a large profit out of those loans and then milking those companies for as long as possible by charging exorbitant “management fees” to oversee the almost inevitable failure of the company given its vastly increased debt?
Could you please spare a moment of thought for the tens of thousands of workers who lost both jobs and pensions to fund Romney’s vast fortune?
I know Romney’s attack on Trump is the latest irresistible shiny object, but for fuck’s sake just pause and think for a minute. Romney is a deeply ambitious man. He’s not doing this out of moral imperative. He still wants to be president. And he wants to be president for much the same reason as Trump: to profit himself and his rich asshole buddies.
That he’s less crass and less blatantly criminal about it isn’t much of a recommendation. He is an evil man. Don’t lose sight of that. Please.
